ART IN SHERIDAN COUNTY

On the Sidewalks of Downtown Sheridan – Over 90 unique sculptures, from Indian maidens to lion cubs to a rhinoceros, on public display all around downtown Sheridan and beyond – over 70 of these are permanent pieces, and another 20 are on loan from the artists (and for sale) – under the watchful care of the Sheridan Public Arts Committee, (307) 751-1654. Our very special sculpture, just unveiled in 2015, is Leonardo’s Horse (based on the scientific design but unfinished work of Leonardo da Vinci in the 1400s), located in the community plaza on the corner of Main/Coffeen/Burkitt.

SAGE Community Arts – Operated by SAGE (Sheridan Artists Guild, Et al), SAGE Community Arts houses two galleries and a classroom/presentation space in its location in the Montgomery Building (21 W. Brundage Street) in Downtown Sheridan. The Fine Art Gallery features regional and national shows on 6-week intervals, while the Members’ Gallery features artwork and handmade gifts by local artists in a wide variety of mediums. SAGE hosts Educational Workshops and Classes for children and adults in a variety of mediums. Its Summer Kids’ programs also provide many opportunities for creative learning for area youth.

Expressions Art Gallery and Framing, LLC – Expressions Art Gallery and Framing features local works of art at 645 Broadway Street. They also have satellite galleries at:

  • Century 21 BHJ Realty, 40 E. Works Street in Sheridan, WY
  • Teton Therapy, 727 E. Brundage Lane in Sheridan, WY
  • Husske Chiropractic Clinic, 1265 Coffeen Avenue in Sheridan, WY

Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library – monthly exhibits by (primarily) local artists, on the library mezzanine and in the Inner Circle meeting area. 335 W. Alger St., (307) 674-8585 Ext 129.

Sheridan College’s Whitney Center for the Arts – host of two galleries of art for both visiting artists and students of Sheridan College, 3059 Coffeen Ave., (307) 674-6446.

The Brinton Museum (Big Horn, Wyoming) –  Forrest E. Mars, Jr. Building – Four separate galleries of art featuring 19th, 20th and 21st century Western and American Indian Art, in a setting that is art unto itself – as well as a historic ranch home full of exquisite Western art. 239 Brinton Road in Big Horn, WY, (307) 672-3173. Admission to the museum and a tour of the historic ranch home is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and students age 13-plus, free for children age 12 and under, free for Sheridan and Johnson County students with valid school ID. 

Gallery on Main (Dayton, Wyoming) – Art from the many local artists in the Dayton area of Sheridan County. 308 Main St. in Dayton, (307) 751-3766.

Ucross Foundation Art Gallery (Clearmont, Wyoming) – 30 Big Red Lane in Clearmont, (307) 737-2291.

Ballard’s‘ Fine Art Gallery (Big Horn, Wyoming) features paintings and sculptures from around the United States and other countries.  Schedule an appointment to see the Gallery. Terms of Use

Events and activities to be listed ~
1. Must be held in Sheridan County and open to the public
2. Must not be business “events” that are part of the normal course of business (e.g., no store sales)
3. If a political or religious event, must be reviewed by the Calendar Committee before inclusion.

When submitting an entry, include ~
1. Event name, date, start/end time, and location
2. 1-2 sentence/phrase event description
3. Text only (no images or logos)
4. Cost, if applicable
4. Contact name and information, e.g., phone, website, email address

Events will be posted daily within 3 business days of receipt, at no cost to the submitting entities.

The Calendar Committee reserves the right to edit or exclude any listing.

Permission from the Calendar Committee is required for use of this calendar on any other website. The Committee also reserves the right to deny or take away permission to use the website calendar for anything it deems to be misuse or unacceptable application.
