DISPATCHER (Full-Time)

The City of Sheridan Police Department is actively recruiting a positive, team-oriented, and dedicated individual with strong accountability to fill the position of Dispatcher (Communications Technician). This position is responsible for performing technical communications duties in support of Sheridan County law enforcement, medical, fire, and other emergency services operations.  An incumbent in this position may be designated “Entry, Basic, Advanced or Professional” depending on experience, training, and special duties. The ideal candidate will look for opportunities for success, have a good support system in place, and be adaptable to changing schedules and atmosphere. The starting wage for this position is $23.89 hourly. This is a fully benefited position including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, state pension benefits, paid time off and a wellness program. UTILITY MAINTENANCE OPERATOR

The City of Sheridan is actively recruiting a hard-working person that is willing to work in rough conditions with a positive attitude to fill the position of Utility Maintenance Operator. This position is responsible for performing technical duties in the maintenance, repair and operation of the water and wastewater systems. The ideal candidate will have the ability to obtain a Water Distribution I license, and Wastewater Collection I license within one year of employment. The starting wage for this position is $22.74 per hour. This is a fully benefited position including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, state pension benefits, paid time off and a wellness program. POLICE OFFICER
SALARY INFORMATION

  Entry Level: $30.59 hourly/$63,634 annually

Top Pay: $43.86  hourly/$91,232 annually

The City of Sheridan offers a competitive benefit package that includes night shift differential, health, vision and dental insurance, partner benefits, retirement benefits and Paid Time Off (PTO) which covers holidays, vacation and sick leave.

In addition to the listed pay and benefits the City of Sheridan is offering hiring bonuses.

Officers whose credentials transfer to Wyoming P.O.S.T. for certification will receive a $7500 bonus ($1500 upon hiring, $3000 upon completion of the first year probationary period and $3000 upon successful completion of the second year of employment).

Candidates without prior certification eligibility will receive a $3500 bonus ($1500 upon hiring and $2000 upon the completion of the first year probationary period).

Temporary housing may be available.  

We hire at the following rates for Wyoming Peace Officer certifications:

Temporary Peace Officer ($63,634), Basic Peace Officer Certification ($66,876), Advanced Peace Officer ($70,283) and Professional Peace Officer ($73,864).  Officers earn a $2.00/hour shift differential.  Officers assigned to the Patrol Division work approximately 1040 hours eligible for the shift differential.  

Wyoming P.O.S.T. will determine certification equivalencies for out-of-state hires.

CITY OF SHERIDAN BENEFITS OVERVIEW

Health Insurance: City offers health insurance to employees and dependents. City pays 80% of the premium for a high deductible plan. Employee may buy up to a lower deductible plan or have a lower premium for a higher deductible plan. Coverage begins the first day of the month following hire date.

Health Savings Account Contributions: $3,460.00 per year for family coverage/$1,730.00 per year for individual coverage on either high deductible plan.

Dental Insurance: City pays 100% of dental premiums for employees and dependents. Coverage begins the first day of the month following hire date.

Life Insurance: City pays 100% of premiums for life insurance for full time employees
o $25,000.00 and $25,000.00 AD&D for employee
o $2,500.00 for dependent children 6 months to 19 years ($250.00 14 days to 6 mo)
o $5,000.00 for spouse
o Optional voluntary life insurance available

Vision Insurance: Voluntary vision insurance available for employee and family

Wyoming Retirement System
Public Employee Pension:  City contributes 11.62% of employee’s monthly salary, employee contributes 7% of monthly salary. 
Law Enforcement Pension:  City contributes 13.42% of employee’s monthly salary, employee contributes 5.58%. 
Paid Fire Pension Plan B:  City contributes 16% of employee’s monthly salary, employee contributes 11.245%. 

Paid Holidays: The City offers 11 paid holidays per year. These holidays are: New Year’s Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day After Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and two Personal Days which can be taken any time during the fiscal year.

Vacation Leave: City Employees accrue 96 hours of vacation leave per year. This leave begins accruing immediately upon hire and can be used as soon as it is accrued. Accrual changes to 120 hours annually after 5 years of service, to 160 hours annually after 10 years of service, to 200 hours annually after 15 years of service and to 240 hours after 25 years of service.

Sick Leave: City Employees accrue 8 hours of sick leave every month. Accrual begins accruing immediately upon hire and can be used as soon as it is accrued.
