Calcutta Notifications

Calcutta Notifications

Under Wyoming Statute § 6-7-101, organizations conducting a Calcutta are required to provide written notification to the local governing body at least 30 days prior to the event.

A Calcutta is a form of wagering commonly associated with events such as golf tournaments, rodeos, or pool tournaments, where participants bid on contestants and winnings are distributed based on the outcome of the competition.

Notification Process

Organizations planning to conduct a Calcutta within the City of Sheridan must complete and submit the Calcutta Notification Form to the City Clerk's Office.

Upon receipt, the notification will be forwarded to the Sheridan City Council for review. Formal Council approval is not required. However, Council may object to the event by resolution.

If no objections are raised, the City Clerk's Office will acknowledge the notification and advise the organizer accordingly.
